<< back to BLOG homepage Fantastic landscape, empty line-ups and perfect waves

...that‘s what we’re looking for! We found it; and even more ;-)

Here is a short travel report for you!

We travelled to the Algarve. The village of Sagres is located in the South-West of Portugal and a perfect place to start your day trips! End of October there are still a pleasant 20 degrees and the landscape around is full of fascinating cliffs and bays. The village itself offers really cheap accommodations, cafes with Wi-Fi, different surf shops, great party locations and most importantly; surf spots with different orientations! With just a little bit of practice and the swell forecast in mind (or on your iPhone), you simply have to check Tonel and Mareta to know which other spots at the west or south coast you should check out as well! This is how we did it every day with great success (there was always a good wave to find nearby). If you get lucky you can find tubes in the desert-like landscape of Carrapateira. It's stormy? Don't stay in your room but check out the waves! Perhaps Mareta has some perfect incoming lines for you! A 30 minute drive to the north will bring you to Arrifana; a nice point break that starts working at bigger northwest- to southwest-swells. However it’s only for experienced surfers, because there are some rocks in the water. Beginners should watch and enjoy this spectacle or enjoy themselves in the beach break nearby.

You are driving around in your camper? The Algarves have some great spots to offer. It's possible to stay at the most beautiful places directly at the beach or at the top of a cliff. And if you get really lucky, a 15 minute off-road drive will bring you to a secret spot at a nice little bay!

Hang loose and cu somewhere in the line-ups!
